Learning Village is an independent review and advisory centre for parents and teachers who are looking for credible information on the best in educational software. With internet sites often providing endlessly long lists, we have chosen to provide you with reviews, by learning area, of what we view as the very best we have seen. For every program that you see here, there are many that we have viewed and tested in our selection process. By giving you our short list by learning area, we hope we are making sorting and choosing the best learning software for your children or students easy.

Why We Created Learning Village
As teachers, university instructors, and educational professionals, we have seen that good quality educational software, matched with the right person at the right time, can be magical. Learning for kids becomes an enjoyable and engaging experience. That is what it should be.
With our ongoing contact with parents and teachers, we are often asked for advice on educational software. So where do you start? A "best seller" is often the result of the popularity of the character associated with the program, or how well promoted the program is, and not necessarily because the program is top quality. On the internet as a guidance resource, you can find endless lists, or you are confronted with "everything is wonderful" articles that leave you feeling that you are being sold not told.
The bottom line question that most parents have is " My child is at this age or stage and I want to help him or her in this area of learning. Which program would be the best?" This is why we created Learning Village. By giving you a manageable range of top quality selections, by age and learning area, we hope to make selecting good quality educational software for your children or students easy.
We also provide links on our site with The CD-ROM Store so that from the review pages you can click on The CD-ROM Store's icon and find pricing and delivery information and be able to order direct. For more information on your ordering choices see "About Ordering" (click here).
We will be adding new software selections in all the learning areas on a regular basis. So come visit us again.
